Captain Miller did a great job of thing today's mixed up world into a thrilling submarine story. Sadly,some of our government is acting very much as depicted in this fictional novel. We can only pray that our nation will wake up and become great again. In real life we would have probably seen a much different outcome without strong leadership at the top instead of power hungry dictators.
I love submarine novels....particularly when they are written by those that have crewed, or even better, commanded a submarine. It adds a better coat of believability. Captain Miller, in this case, does a good job with a good story accompanied by believable details. Sadly, Captain Miller did not employ the services of a proofreader. The grammatical errors were quite distracting and seemed to get worse as the book approached closing.
Miller's actual naval experience shows well in this gripping yarn. "Peace in Our Time" was the phrase UK Prime Minister Chamberlain used in announcing the peace agreement between England and Germany in 1938 and we all know how well that turned out. In Miller's book "No Peace in Our Time" there is a cautionary message for our modern times with the precision description of US sub procedures & insights into personal politics and conflicts in the US Navy and the political establishment.
An extraordinarily good book by an emerging great author. Filled with excitement, suspense, courage, and written by a retired Navy Captain who has " been there and done that". Miller is even better than Tom Clancy.
A very contemporary story given the current state of world politics, Dave does a great job of integrating women into mainstream military and political roles. Plenty of technical detail shared to further immerse the reader into the complexities and capabilities of our submarine fleet. Looking forward to another future publication written about some of these key characters and their important role in protecting our freedoms.
Hope to see more of this series, especially once all the characters have completely their newly assigned roles. Well Done.
The novel departs from the series focus on submarines and opens with a young black woman named Andrea Herder, who is soon sworn in as the first female president of the United States. She is immediately met with opposition from the political establishment, who are determined to see her fail. Andrea is a brilliant and determined woman, but she is inexperienced and out of her depth. She must learn to navigate the treacherous waters of Washington, D.C., while also dealing with the personal attacks and threats of being the first black female president.
